What is it that makes a place a community?

mapping.care is a fragmented, expanding search for places of community and collective care.

The project collects and maps stories of places and its people. It can be places that are usually overseen: a little Kiosk in a neighbourhood, a collective housing project or just this “place-around-the-corner” where you randomly run into people that give you the feeling of “i-belong-here”.By telling stories of places, meeting its people and capturing the feelings of “being-there”, the project asks: Do you find a “community”/”home”? Or do you build it? And what does it need to maintain it? How does a community shape a place? And how is a place shaping the community?
